Outstanding Teacher Award - Fellowship

Purpose

The Outstanding Teacher Award - Fellowship recognizes faculty members who demonstrate outstanding communication, collaboration, empathy, engagement, feedback and/or mentorship to fellows in the Department of Medical Imaging.

Award

This award will be presented annually to up to 15 recipients. If there are no nominations by the deadline or the candidates do not meet the standard of excellence required for this award, it will not be given that year. 

The award recipient will be notified directly and receive a certificate.  

Criteria and Nomination Process

The recipient(s) of this award must have a primary appointment in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto; self-nominations are not permitted. Faculty members are eligible to receive this award multiple times.

The recipient of this award must meet one of the following criteria:

• Be nominated by at least one fellow; or
• Have received consistently high LACT scores, in the absence of a fellow nomination through the survey.

Both fellow nominations and LACT scores will be considered in the selection of the recipient. The selection process will also ensure fair representation across sites.

Nomination Criteria

Nominees for this award must possess the qualities of an outstanding teacher which include:

• Display an outstanding commitment to teaching fellows
• Demonstrate respect in the learning and healthcare environment with a collaborative approach to the fellow and faculty teaching and learning relationship
• Encourage and support fellows' enquiries
• Provide effective feedback and assessment of fellows 
• Display a genuine interest in fellows’ professional development  
• Assist in achieving learning objectives 
• Teaching effectiveness as demonstrated on the LACT scores

Selection Process

This award will be adjudicated by a committee chaired by a designated faculty member of the Department of Medical Imaging.

Both fellow nominations and LACT scores will be considered in the selection of the recipient. The selection process will also ensure fair representation across sites.
