Visiting Professor - Dr. Judy Yee

The University of Toronto, Medical Imaging Visiting Professor Program is pleased to announce that Dr. Judy Yee (Professor and University Chair of Radiology at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine) will be visiting the Department on September 12, 2019.

 

Judy Yee, MD, FACR is Professor and University Chair of Radiology at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  Prior to this role she was the Vice-Chair of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco.  She was also Chief of Radiology and Director of the 3D Imaging Lab at the San Francisco VA Medical Center/UCSF.  In these roles Dr. Yee has developed significant experience in building state-of-the-art Radiology Departments, starting new initiatives and building innovative programs.

 

Dr. Yee is an accomplished abdominal and gastrointestinal radiologist with a research focus on CT Colonography, as well as bowel, liver and pancreatic imaging using CT and MR.  She has published multiple landmark studies in the field of CT Colonography and is widely considered a pioneer in the field.  Her publications include over 130 peer-reviewed articles, 23 book chapters, and over 120 abstracts.  She is the editor and main author of the well-received textbook entitled “Virtual Colonoscopy”.

 

Dr. Yee holds many leadership positions in major radiology organizations.  She served on the Board of the Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) and was the President of SAR from 2015-2016.  In this role she started new initiatives for the Society including a Development Fund, a Mentoring Program, and a Leadership Program.  She currently serves as Chair of the American College of Radiology Colon Cancer Committee and Chair of the RSNA gastrointestinal Refresher Course Program.  She serves on the Editorial Boards of RadioGraphics, Abdominal Radiology and JCAT and has also served on the Editorial Boards of both Radiology and AJR.  She is Co-Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the New York State Radiologic Society and a member of the ACR Commission on Diversity and Inclusion.

 

Dr. Yee provides many invited lectures nationally and internationally.  She is a well-respected educator, having instructed and mentored multiple trainees in abdominal imaging.  She is the recipient of multiple awards including the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Academy of Medical Educators, the Visiting Professorship Award from the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists, the Best Speaker Award of the American Roentgen Ray Society and the 2015 UCSF Outstanding Faculty Mentoring Award.  She is awarded Honorary Fellow of the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology, the sole recipient from the United States to receive this honor in 2019.
