1. What inspired you to pursue radiology residency/fellowship?
I was initially drawn to radiology by the vast breadth of knowledge, wide variety of pathologies, and just how big of a role radiologists played in driving pertinent medical decisions across almost every specialty. On top of that, I was amazed at all of the unreal minimally invasive procedures I saw in diagnostic and interventional radiology. A huge factor here was that I was always lucky to have fantastic staff radiologist mentors, fellows, and senior residents who were so supportive and encouraging throughout my time in medical school at U of T, which made me even more excited to pursue this field.
2. What has been the biggest highlight of your education in MI so far?
My co-residents!! They have been an incredible support system throughout residency, and knowing that we are all in this together makes this experience so much more enjoyable.
3. What has been the biggest challenge?
Adjusting to the role of a resident has been a big challenge this year – specifically, having more responsibilities, making clinical decisions, and feeling the weight of your decisions. It has also been immensely rewarding to see how much I have grown in the first half of the year and how much further there is to go.
4. What are you most looking forward to after residency/fellowship?
I am really excited to keep learning and exploring everything radiology has to offer. It is such a broad field with so much depth, and I want to take full advantage of these years in residency to develop my skills. Right now, I am leaning toward interventional radiology as a fellowship following residency.
5. Tell us something about you that might surprise your colleagues!
My low-key talent for finding great deals on Facebook Marketplace – my most recent purchase was actually my wedding dress!
