Katherine Zukotynski
MD, PhD, ABR, FRCPC
Katherine Zukotynski completed Engineering Science, followed by Medical school and Radiology residency through the University of Toronto. She then completed Nuclear Medicine training and a Fellowship in oncologic imaging at Harvard. She is certified to practice nuclear medicine and radiology in both Canada and the USA. She also has a PhD in AI applied to brain imaging from the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto and she is a Professional Engineer. She was on staff for several years at both Harvard Medical School and McMaster University. She has been affiliated with the University of Toronto for over 30 years, as a lifelong student and now, part-time, as a Professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Zukotynski’s research focusses on the application of AI in medical imaging and the use of radiopharmaceuticals to advance patient care. She obtained the first Health Canada Approval for PSMA targeted PET/CT using 18F-DCFPyL in 2015 and was co-PI on a grant to bring PSMA targeted therapy across Canada awarded in 2018 through the Canadian Cancer Society. In 2025, Dr. Zukotynski was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American College of Nuclear Medicine for her work and contribution to the field.
