Visiting Professor - Dr. James Carr

The University of Toronto, Medical Imaging Visiting Professor Program is pleased to announce that Dr. James Carr (Immediate Past President of the Society for Magnetic Resonance Angiography (SMRA) will be visiting the Department on March 1-2, 2018.

James Carr, M.D. is Professor of Radiology, Medicine & Biomedical Engineering and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Radiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois.  He is the Knight Family Professor of Cardiac Imaging at Northwestern University.  As Director of the Division of Cardiovascular Imaging in Radiology at Northwestern since 2004, he has created an independent, clinically orientated section, a collaborative effort between Radiology and Cardiology, focused on cardiovascular MRI and CT and has sought to rapidly translate advances in the research arena into clinical applications.

He has served on national, international and institutional committees related to research and education, including those of the American Heart Association, the American College of Radiology, the Society of Cardiovascular MR and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.  He has had active involvement with the SCMR for over 14 years.  He is the Immediate Past President of the Society for Magnetic Resonance Angiography (SMRA), which recently formed a collaboration with SCMR.

Dr. Carr has delivered over 190 invited presentations on cardiovascular MRI in the U.S. and around the world.  He is principal investigator or co‐investigator on multiple industry and national institute of health grants.  He has authored or co‐authored over 240 publications on cardiovascular imaging, with specific focus on time‐resolved MRA, ultrafast cardiac MRI techniques, mapping and myocardial function including authorship on the appropriateness criteria for cardiac MRI in JACC.
